Mindful Communication
The quality of your communication directly affects your ability to authentically connect, influence, inspire and engage your co-workers, clients, and other stakeholders. It can create stress or bring ease and joy to your workday. How you communicate can make or break your career.
Yet, so many of us are unaware of our style of communication. We make assumptions, react, interrupt, judge, and/or forget in the heat of a high-paced result-oriented workday, to be kind and empathetic. Our need to be right filters our conversation bringing with it our biases and boundaries.
The MINDFUL COMMUNCATION webinar is a mind/body training which focuses on listening and responding to the three mini conversations that are present within each verbal transaction.
The first conversation is the one you have with yourself when reacting to what the other person says. In order to understand your specific reactive tendency, I’ll describe the different communication styles of the nine Enneagram personality types. Then, to minimize this tendency, participants will learn how to shift from the chatter of the mind into the mind/body, so they are available to listen deeply.
The second conversation is what the other person is stating. Participants will move beyond assumptions and judgments by learning helpful questions that enhance understanding.
The third conversation is the back-and-forth conversation the two of you have. We’ll focus on seeing the seed of truth in each other’s perspective in order to find a deep truth and understanding, I’ll also offer tips for giving feedback and making requests.
